MARC Learn to Swim Program

The MARC Learn to Swim program is catered toward improving water confidence and safety education for patrons of all ages. Whether you are 6 months old or 60 years old, we have a program for you. Each level of the Learn to Swim program offers skill development to improve swim strokes and endurance while also instilling real-world knowledge for preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. We cover everything from bathing precautions for toddlers, backyard pool safety, performing rescues on the lake or river, and everything in between.

Stroke Development

(Levels 5 & 6): Swimmers at this level put all previous swimming skills together. They are introduced to the last competitive swimming stroke: butterfly. They continue to master timing in both butterfly and breaststroke. To pass stroke development to be ready for the swim team, swimmers must be able to complete either a 100 yard IM (12 & Under) or a 200 yard IM(IM=25/50 fly, 25/50 back, 25/50 breast, and 25/50 free) with 3 of 4 legal strokes.

Adult Swim Lessons

Once children satisfactorily complete Level 4 of the Learn to Swim program, we offer options for them to continue their aquatic pursuits. If your child is interested in swimming competitively, consider signing them up for the MARC Firefish swim team. If your child wants to learn more about water safety and emergency response, we recommend taking the Beyond Learn to Swim Junior course. If your child is interested in competing and rescue skills, they can certainly participate in both programs. The more the merrier! We also offer the Beyond Learn to Swim Senior course for adults looking for an educational, aquatic-based exercise program.
